Healthy Working Life Programme

Support to help you get back to work

If you’re currently off work because of a health condition, you may be able to get extra support to help you manage your health and wellbeing and return to work when you’re ready.

The Healthy Working Life Programme in Calderdale offers free, personalised support if you’re currently employed and off work with a Sick Note because of:

  • Mental health concerns, such as stress, anxiety or depression
  • Musculoskeletal (MSK) problems, such as back, joint or muscle pain

The aim is to help you manage your health and feel supported as you work towards returning to work safely.

How can the programme help?

If you’re referred to the programme, a friendly Healthy Working Life Advisor from Pennine GP Alliance will contact you. They’ll take the time to:

Listen to what’s happening and understand your needs

Talk to you about your health, wellbeing and work

Provide practical advice and guidance

Help you find the right support for you

Connect you with NHS, voluntary and community services where appropriate

How do you access the programme?

If you’re currently off work with a Fit Note because of a mental health or MSK condition, speak to a healthcare professional about the Healthy Working Life Programme. They can talk to you about the support available and, if appropriate, refer you to the programme.

Working together to support your health

Healthy Working Life is a joint programme delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. Calderdale is one of just three pilot areas in the country taking part in the programme. The programme forms part of a wider ambition for West Yorkshire to have the healthiest residents and workforce in England by 2040.
